Review of "The Night the Stars Went Out" ✨️

The stars don't need the night to shine, but you do to see them.

From the very beginning of my reading, I must admit I was a little hesitant. The title suggested a story revolving around addiction and drugs, a potentially dark and depressing tale. However, I was pleasantly surprised and completely captivated by the developments in the plot.

What particularly struck me was the way the author tackles such sensitive subjects with great finesse and depth. The writing is fluid, poignant, and even when the story navigates between the characters' past and their "trip" experience, the narration never loses its rhythm. This transition from one chapter to another, sometimes between two different time frames, was not at all disturbing; on the contrary, it enriched the reading experience.

The characters, Fine, Kenna, and Nate, are incredibly well-developed. Fine, in particular, is a complex character, who is difficult to understand at first. He is cold, distant, perhaps even a little unbearable, but as the story progresses, we discover the deep wounds that drive him to behave this way. We realize that he is not evil, but simply broken by events that he struggles to cope with. He is a tortured but touching character, and his evolution over the course of the story is one of the strong points of the book.

As for Kenna, her somewhat "pest" character at first gives us the impression of a difficult person, but as time goes on, we understand that she is actually a loyal friend, a little crazy, but ready to do anything to support those close to her. She brings a unique dynamic to the group, and her role is crucial in the story.

In short, "The Night the Stars Went Out" moved me deeply. It's not just a book about addiction, but a novel about healing, solidarity, and the importance of human relationships. The way the story is told and the evolution of the characters captivated me. This book is much more than just a story about a trip or depression; it's an intense and beautiful emotional journey.

"You have to carry chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star."
